Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
An appealing first-rate example of Montreal Canadiens' legend Ken Dryden's 1971-72 Topps rookie card is offered here and has received lofty MINT 9 recognition from the KSA grading firm. Card #45 likely had youngsters' eyes popping back in the day, (no other goalie had been pictured wearing his mask on his hockey card!), and recalls, on the back, how big Ken had become an instant hero by leading the Habs to their unlikely Stanley Cup championship the previous season, playing in a record 20 playoff games. Statistics of his '70-71 late-season call-up are also included; six games played and just nine goals against. Less-than-perfect side-to-side centering is to mention here, with the encapsulated beauty a blast to hold and behold.
