Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A varied group of 5 sticks make their appearance in this auction, with a few game-used examples along with signed sticks. We have Sher-Wood and Northland models, along with examples specifically designed for signatures. The game-used sticks originate from Sylvain Lefebvre (1990s) and Paul Andrea (late-1960s – used while with Pittsburgh), while the signed examples offered include HOFers Steve Shutt and Brett Hull, along with goaltender Charlie Hodge. A complete breakdown for each of the offered sticks is as follows: 1) Paul Andrea game-used stick. A Northland Custom Pro Glass Fused model, “Andrea” appears stamped-on, with additional stamps from both Northland and Penguins supplier Pittsburgh Sports Shop Inc. The original tape remains on the blade and handle/knob, with marks on the blade and lower shaft confirming moderate use. With just some age cracking along the toe section, there is also a loose strand of tape along the blade. 2) Sylvain Lefebvre game-used stick. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model, “Lefebvre” appears on the shaft, with the stick retaining its tape on the blade and knob. Nice use is exhibited, with wear to the underside of the blade along with some blue paint transfer on the lower shaft. 3) Charlie Hodge signed stick. A Sher-Wood model that originates from post-career for Hodge, tape remains on the blade and shaft, with its former user lost to time. Charlie has signed on the lower paddle in blue marker, with the signature flawless. The stick itself remains in excellent condition, perfect for display. 4) Brett Hull signed stick. Made specifically for St. Louis signers, the blue shaft with accents in the team’s colours has “St. Louis Blues” on both sides of the shaft along with a few logos. Hull has signed across the front side of the blade in black marker, with some fading to the signature. The stick remains clean and solid, with just some light residue on the upper shaft. 5) Steve Shutt signed stick. A HOF example, “Steve Shutt” appears on the shaft in factory graphics along with his stats, number and HOF induction year. Shutt has signed across the blade near a HOF decal that has been placed near the toe section, adding “Montreal Canadiens” and his induction year. Both the signature and the stick itself remain in beautiful condition, ready for a new home.
