Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
One of Montreal’s favourite son’s was honoured on the night of Feb 23rd 2008, when Bob Gainey’s number 23 was retired and raised to the rafters of the Bell Centre. This Canadiens jersey was worn that very evening by defenceman Josh Gorges, and it’s been signed and photo-matched. CCM size tagging rests along the collar, with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the famous CH team crest that’s been partially embroidered, the solid red V-neck has been accented with attractive dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the important Bob Gainey “23” patch residing over the right breast. Game-wear is light on the garment, with just a few marks present including a few faint stains, with examples over the team crest, and on the white striping bands of both sleeves. Gorges has signed across the fight strap adding his number, and the signature displays well. A hologram numbered A01038 has been affixed to the bottom of the back “6”, with a matching LOA from the Canadiens organization to accompany.
