Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A solid defenceman considered one of modern Russia’s best, Andrei Markov originally spent time in the RSL with both Khimik Voskresensk and Dynamo Moscow, and he’s currently in his 16th season in Montreal. This Canadiens jersey was worn by Markov in both the 2007-08 regular season and playoffs, and it’s been photo-matched. Size tagging is visible along the collar with handwritten “3”, with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring the most recognizable team crest in hockey, the white “Away Set 3” jersey has been embellished with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers. The team patch sits on the inside hem, while a hologram numbered GW88535 has been placed at the bottom of the “9” on verso, with a matching LOA from the Canadiens organization to accompany.
Game-wear consists of marks on the lower front, along with additional examples over each sleeve. There are also traces of red paint transfer beneath the left shoulder and burns on the right, with some very light and faint staining just above the left breast. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, Getty Image #80945028 from April 28th 2008 and Getty Image #81220212 from April 30th (both from the Stanley Cup playoffs), have been matched to the red paint transfer at the junction of the front of the jersey and the left shoulder area.
