Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Assaulting netminders throughout the late-1930s and early-1940s, the “Kraut” line featured Milt Schmidt, Bobby Bauer and Woody Dumart of the big bad Boston Bruins. The 1939-40 season best exemplifies the trio’s prowess, with each finishing within the top three in scoring. We have a vintage photo signed by the three, taken while serving in the RCAF during the Second World War. An 8” x 10” black and white affair, all three are pictured on-ice in RCAF uniforms, with “RCAF Official Photograph” appearing along the bottom right. Each has signed beneath his respective image in fountain pen, with all three signatures remaining extremely bold and vibrant. The reverse features a faded military stamp and notation, with all three players listed in pencil. The photo itself exhibits heavy wear, with creasing, pinholes and a few small edge tears, while the reverse is heavily toned. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
