Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Possibly the only NHL player in history directly referenced with the naming of a newly discovered insect, the Thaumatodryinus tuukkaraski, Tuuka Rask is currently in his 8th full season with the Boston Bruins. The Finish native has also represented his country at both the World Cup, and 2014 Winter Olympics. We have a mask designed for the netminder for use in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Designed by Dom Malerba, two masks were produced for Rask that were almost identical, with this example most likely never worn, aside from a possible practice. Featuring an attractive and ferocious lion across the top section with waving Finish flags along each side, “Suomi” (Finland) appears across the chin section in especially pleasing font. Finished with a gold mask along with intact strapping and padding, “Finland” has been placed across the bottom of the back head piece, with a hand-extended sword placed above.
Other features of the mask include a signature from the artist along with “2014”, placed along the right inner side, with “paint Jesse 2014” on the left. With just a few tiny marks and blemishes present, the mask remains in absolutely gorgeous condition, begging to be displayed. The mask will also be accompanied by a 4orte carrying bag.
