Representing Sweden at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships, goaltender Robin Lehner also suited up for the blue and yellow at the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Buffalo, New York. We have a mask worn by the Gothenburg native in the 2010-11 NHL season, along with in the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships, and it’s been photo-matched. One of the more attractively designed masks we’ve handled, “Bauer” appears on the forehead section, with all padding and strapping intact along with the Bauer neck guard. Designed by renowned mask artist David Gunnarsson in 2010, his signature appears on the front, with the name of the mask itself written along the top back portion, with it ending in “Hot”. “Senators” crosses the front, with Sweden’s “Tre Kronor” crowns placed over the forehead section. The back headpiece features Swedish and Canadian flags, along with “40” over the chin section.
The mask exhibits nice wear, with some chipping in spots, most notably along edges, with a large gouge along the top section. There is also some rusting to the screws that affix the facemask. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, four included numeric images have been matched to a number of chips on the left ear back edge side, to a number of marks on the mask bars, to marks on the material of the clip on the left ear side, and to marks on the material of the clip on the right ear side. A solid black bag designed for the mask is also included, with “4orte” appearing in white on each side.
