Featuring one of hockey’s all-time favourite sons and ambassadors, we have a large collection of awards, display, certificates, photos and more totalling 39, all from the personal collection of Jean Beliveau. There are 17 plaques/framed certificates, 1 signed Sport-Revue framed picture, 17 certificates, 1 modern signed photo and 3 vintage photos. Highlights include the signed Sport-Revue framed picture, a framed certificate (no glass) from The Sportsmen’s Association of Montreal selecting Beliveau as “Montreal’s Outstanding Professional Athlete” for 1956, an attractive plaque with mounted player honoring Jean from “La Traverse Du Lac St. Jean” in 1954, a CAHA plaque recognizing Beliveau as an “Honorary Chairman”, an original photo of the Quebec Citadelles from either 1949-50 or 1950-51 with Beliveau and so much more!
The breakdown for the Beliveau items available in this lot is as follows. 1) Signed Sport-Revue photo. A full colour newsprint image of Le Gros Bill, Beliveau has signed in the white section of his jersey in ballpoint, and the signature displays well. Framed to total dimensions of 12 ¾” x 15 ¾”. 2) Signed modern photo. At 8” x 10”, the full colour glossy image pictures Jean clutching the Stanley Cup, and he’s signed near the bottom in blue sharpie. A 4” x 6” photo of Beliveau actually signing this photo will accompany. 3) 1954 La Traverse Du Lac St Jean plaque. 10” x 12” and fashioned from thick wood, a player along with laurel wreaths are mounted, with the particulars listed below. 4) City of Winnipeg framed certificate. From the Mayor’s office, the certificate recognizes Jean as an honorary citizen of Winnipeg. Framed to total dimensions of 14 ¾” x 18 ¼”. 5) 2 framed certificates from the Sportsmen’s Association of Montreal, both honoring big Jean. One at total dimensions of 12 ½” x 15”, the other 13 ¼” x 14 ¼”. 6) CAHA Honorary Chairman plaque. A shield-shaped plaque with a beautiful CAHA medallion mounted, with dimensions of roughly 8” x 11”. 7) A Cultural-Exchange plaque. At 10” x 15”, the acrylic plaque features a mounted plate, with the listed particulars stating it was presented from Beliveau, to Marcel Bonin celebrating his 20th anniversary as co-ordinator. A Number of scratches are present to the surface. 8) 1976 Rotary Club of Montreal certificate. Beliveau is honoured by the organization, with the certificate matted and framed to total dimensions of roughly 12” x 16”. The unframed certificates include examples from Pinecrest Queensway in 1988 (8 ½” x 11”), cfox radio in 1975 (8 ½” x 11”), Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in 1985 (8 ½” x 11”), Timber Club in 1970 (10” x 14”), The Charlie Conacher Research Fund (14” x 19” - folded and in poor condition), and much more. Most of the items show wear commensurate with their age and former use, with some examples displaying better than others.
