Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Upon Joe DiMaggio’s retirement in 1951 after yet another World Series title, he was questioned by reporters and asked whom he considered the best out of the contemporary playing field. Joe’s response left no doubt, “Ted Williams. He is by far the greatest natural hitter I ever saw.” This Rawlings baseball has been dual-signed by the legendary pair. An Official American League ball with clean stampings originating from Lee MacPhail’s tenure as league president (1973-84), both have signed in matching fiber-tip marker. Williams graces the sweet spot, while DiMaggio has been placed in the panel just above, with both signatures displaying well. With just some evenly spread toning, the ball remains in beautiful condition. A sticker from PSA/DNA numbered C78935 has been affixed near the stampings, with a matching LOA to accompany.
