The Toronto Blue Jays put Canada atop the summit of the baseball world in 1992 with a six-game win over Atlanta for the first of their back-to-back World Series titles. Offered is 16-game winner Juan Guzman's personal 1992 Blue Jays World Series Champions Commissioner's Trophy. Guzman followed up his strong rookie season with a 16-5 record and a 2.64 ERA in 28 starts in his stellar sophomore campaign. He won both of his starts against Oakland in the 1993 American League Championship Series, including Toronto's 9-2 win in the series clincher at SkyDome that gave the Jays their first AL pennant paving the way to their first World Series win. Guzman's original trophy is 12" tall from the bottom of the round base to the top of the tallest of the 26 pennant flagpoles representing all of the major league teams. Blue Jays and Braves World Series pins are mounted on the bottom in front of a baseball that anchors a gold-colored band with a crown perched on top. "World Series Champions, Toronto Blue Jays 1992, Juan Guzman" reads the front of the gold-colored band that encircles the 2 1/2" tall black base.
Apart from some dust within grooves and small enclosures, the highly desirable World Series trophy remains in absolutely stunning condition. There is also some very light spotting along the circular interior band, with some additional light wear on the gold ring around the base including a few tiny spots of loss, primarily to the right of “Guzman”. We should also mention for the strictest accuracy that there is a bit of wear along the bottom edge of the base at the reverse. A sticker from maker Balfour is also present along the underside.
