With their legendary victory over the Soviet Union in the historic Summit Series, Team Canada 1972 was a clear-cut choice as Canada’s “Team of the Century” in a poll conducted by the Canadian Press. This handsome trophy was presented to Team Canada 1972 forward Dennis Hull to commemorate the November 2000 unveiling of the historic monument dedicated to the team at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Dennis contributed two goals and four points in four games during the series, including an assist on Brad Park’s goal late in the first period of the decisive eighth and final game in Moscow. Attractive and substantial marble-base award stands 13” tall and features English and French plaques on either side of the award, which was presented by the Royal Canadian Mint. Silver-coloured maple leaf atop the heavy marble base has the Mint’s commemorative 25th anniversary silver dollar set in the middle. Dennis Hull’s signed LOA accompanies this spectacular and seldom-seen trophy.
The trophy remains in stunning condition, with just a tiny chip along the base. The silver maple leaf atop can actually move slightly as well. These are extremely minor issues mentioned strictly for accuracy, and in no way diminish any of the award’s display value.
