Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Wondrous and historic white Montreal Canadiens wool creation was worn during the 1946-47 season by left wing Hub Macey, who played the final 12 of his 30 NHL games overall in the 1940s during his only season in Montreal. The numbers 11, 21, and 22 have been attributed to Macey in 1946-47. Though we find no evidence of any number removal, this is the correct style of jersey worn by the Habs in that era and it exhibits clear wear, including a dried bloodstain on the front below the magnificent "CH" logo sewn on in three separate layers of red, white, and blue felt. With completely intact cuffs and collar, a number of holes throughout the jersey do not diminish its historic display. This incredible Montreal Canadiens wool sweater from the peak era of the Punch Line and the Rocket's red glare comes with a letter of authenticity.
This is the same kind of Habs tie-neck sweater worn by the famous Punch Line, Maurice "Rocket" Richard, Elmer Lach and Toe Blake, as Montreal won the Prince of Wales Trophy with a 34-16-10 regular season mark. Richard fired 45 goals to claim the Hart, losing out by one point for the Art Ross to the Black Hawks' Max Bentley, who finished with 72 points to the Rocket's 71. Bill Durnan, Butch Bouchard and Ken Reardon joined Maurice as the Habs, who lost the Stanley Cup final to Toronto in six games, accounted for four of six spots on the NHL's First All-Star Team.
