Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Completely dominant, the New York Yankees would be crowned World Series champions seven times in a ten-year period from 1947-56, including 5 consecutive titles from 1949-53, an MLB record. We have an extremely attractive presentation tray commemorating the fifth consecutive Fall Classic win in 1953, with these trays given exclusively to participants and team officials. At just under 13” in diameter, the silver-plated tray features an especially large rim, with the famous Yankees logo centered over a “V” for five, with “World Champions” below along with the consecutive years won. Grooves have also been added to give the appearance of baseball stitching, with all players listed above and below with engraved facsimile signatures including HOFers Mantle, Dickey, Ford, Berra, Rizzuto and others.
With a completely blank reverse, the presentation tray exhibits wear to the rim and surface, with some expected scratches present. There is also some very minor pitting in a pair of spots, over the “Bill” of “Bill Dickey”, and over the beginning of “Phil” for “Phil Rizzuto”.
