Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
An interesting selection of 8 sticks are available in this lot, highlighted by game-used/issued examples from three of the Edmonton Oilers favourite sons, Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson and Kevin Lowe. We also have a team-signed stick from the 1979-80 Flyers, used by an unknown individual, along with a few examples that possibly saw NHL action including a goal stick and a pair of Russian-made sticks. 1) Mark Messier game-issued and signed stick. A Sher-Wood PMP 9030 model in Oilers colours, “Messier” and “11” appear stamped-on, with the stick retaining its striping accent. Messier has signed across the front side of the blade in black marker, and the signature is flawless, while the stick shows light wear. 2) Glenn Anderson game-used stick. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 with the original tape on the blade and knob, “Anderson” and “6” appear on the upper shaft, with an NHL striping accent on the lower shaft. Featuring a shaved handle, the stick exhibits nice use with wear to the taped section of blade along with a few abrasions to the lower shaft. 3) Kevin Lowe game-used stick. A KOHO model with a cracked shaft that has been repaired with tape, “Lowe” appears on the upper shaft with handwritten “4”. The original tape is on the blade, along with the ribbed-style tape job on the handle. Great use is shown, with heavy wear along with some paint transfer on the lower shaft. A Few signatures are also present on the stick, scripted in ballpoint. 4) 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers team-signed stick. A KOHO Custom Pro model used by an unknown player, approx. 18 have signed, with most signatures exhibiting fading, and included are Clarke, Peeters, Linseman, Barnes, Ververgaert, Propp and others. 5) Louisville goal stick. With no name on the upper shaft, it’s possible this stick saw NHL action, and it’s the same type of model favoured by John Vanbiesbrouck for a good portion of his career. The original tape is intact, and the stick shows heavy use with a cracked blade. 6) Stick used by unknown player. A Sher-Wood model, the shaft has been chipped, with no users name present. The tape has been removed from the blade, but remains on the handle/knob. 7&8) Pair of Russian sticks. A Vostok along with a Leader with both a left and a right hand model, both solid red sticks have taped blades along with taped handles. Light but definite use is visible on each, and they remain in very good condition.
