The NHL’s oldest hockey club, the Montreal Canadiens' transcend hockey, with iconic status long achieved putting the team on equal footing with sports giants such as the New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics and Manchester United Red Devils. We have a wonderful group of game-used sticks that saw action with the legendary club in the late-1970s/early-1980s, with examples wielded by Michel Larocque, Denis Herron, Mario Tremblay, Pierre Larouche and Danny Geoffrion. 1) Michel “Bunny” Larocque game-used stick. A Finish-made Titan Super Pro model, “M. Larocque” appears stamped-on, with the stick retaining its original tape on the blade and knob. Great use is exhibited, with fairly heavy wear to the blade including a large split to the fibreglass along the heel section. 2) Denis Herron game-used stick. A Victoriaville Pro Vic 1000 model, “Herron” appears stamped-on, with “23” handwritten along the upper shaft. The stick has its original tape on the blade and knob, with great use exhibited, with good wear to the blade along with a few marks on the lower paddle. 3) Pierre Larouche game-used stick. “P. Larouche” and “28” appear stamped onto the upper shaft of this Sher-Wood Feather-Lite model, with the original tape still in place on the handle and knob. The blade remains free of tape, as this is the way Larouche played with his sticks. Moderate use is shown, with marks on the blade and lower shaft. 4) Danny Geoffrion game-used sticks. A Victoriaville Pro Vic 1000, “Geoffrion” appears on the upper shaft along with handwritten “20”. The original tape remains on the handle and knob, with no tape ever placed along the blade, as Geoffrion went “tapeless”. Great use is exhibited, with wear to the blade from top to bottom, along with a few additional marks to the shaft. There is also wear to the underside of the blade, along with a crack near the center. 5) Mario Tremblay game-used stick. Mario’s original black tape remains on the blade and white ribbed-style on the handle of this Canadian Custom Pro model, featuring “Mario Tremblay” on the upper shaft. “14” has also been handwritten in marker, with the stick exhibiting moderate use, with wear to the taped section of blade.
