This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
This interesting lot is a dealer’s dream, with a number of neat vintage hockey, baseball and football items, totaling well over 100. We have pennants, programs, pins, ticket stubs, and a whole lot more. Highlights include a 1962 Braves nodder, a 1950s Babe Ruth store model H&B bat, a 1974 Canada/Russia series program, a 1993 World Series program, seven assorted late-1950s/early-1960s CFL pennants and so much more. We also have a mid-1970s ceramic Chicago Cubs lamp, a framed 30th anniversary commemorative Dodger Stadium patch from 1992, a framed NY Herald Tribune page featuring the Yankees winning the World Series over the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1941, a Yogi Berra H&B mini-bat, an exceedingly rare Long Island Ducks EHL Champions pennant from 1965, a Braves photo pennant from 1966, a Pittsburgh Pirates NL Champions pennant from 1971, East and West Grey Cup pennants from 1977, a San Francisco Giants PM10 stadium pin with ribbon and more. There are a number of ticket/stubs, including a 1984 USFL Jacksonville Bulls ticket stub, a couple 1988 Blue Jays tickets/stubs, Canadiens stubs, a few Maple Leafs tickets, a 2007 Grey Cup Playoffs ticket for Toronto vs TBD and others. Also included is a boxed presentation volume of The Treasures of Major League Baseball from 2007, featuring a number of interesting memorabilia replicas.
The ’62 Braves nodder includes a chip on the right cheek, with the head sitting slightly askew. A few chips and cracks are also present on the head, with just light wear to the base, including to the Braves logo and to the reverse numbers. The H&B Ruth bat is a youth model at 30”, and it originates from the 1950s, with considerable wear especially to the barrel. There are grooves, ball marks and dings, with heavy wear to the center brand. Next, the 1974 Canada/Russia program remains in beautiful condition, with just expected handling and spine wear, along with some light toning/staining on the first page. The Cubs lamp is roughly 16” and is especially attractive, with a folk art feel, with the underside marked “To Mr. Gauvreau The Best Coach Love Scott 1975”. A sticker from Beaconsfield Ceramics in Quebec also remains affixed to the underside, with the lamp remaining in excellent condition and in working order. Regarding the pennants, the Long Island Ducks example shows fairly heavy wear with toning, but displays well, while the ’71 Pirates pennant and ’66 Braves photo pennant both exhibit toning and wear to the tips along with some heavier staining to the Braves example. The teams featured in the collection of 7 vintage CFL programs include Ottawa, Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, Hamilton, Montreal, B.C. and Toronto. All seven have intact tassels, with moderate wear present including a cut near the tip of the Ottawa example. We should also note a number of other pennants in the collection, including a 1969 Lake Placid pennant with skiing pictured, along with a square West Point N.Y. banner.
