From the personal collection of Paul Gauvreau who was an assistant trainer with the Montreal Expos in 1980, we have a neat collection of memorabilia. Included we have a pair of 10” x 12” scrapbooks, loaded with interesting items including Expos ticket stubs from 1970-74, along with a pair from the opening game in 1969, Expos news releases, a Steve Rogers signed photo, a few snapshots, a Jarry Park seating diagram, an 8” x 10” of Gary Carter with Gauvreau, a few Expos signed postcards, Canadiens ticket stubs from 1971-72, Expos pay stubs from 1980 and more! A few additional ticket stubs are also included, with a 1981 NL Eastern Division Series stub and a 1992 AL Championship Series Game 2 stub. There is even a snap shot of Willie Mays hitting his 3000th hit against the Expos at Candlestick Park, July 18th 1970.
The breakdown for the available items in this lot is as follows. The first scrapbook contains a few congratulatory letters regarding Gauvreau’s appointment as assistant trainer in 1980, along with a few Expos snap shots. There’s a handwritten letter from Tom Hutton, a signed 8” x 10” addressed to Paul from Steve Rogers, signed postcards from Ken Macha, John Tamargo and Tom Hutton, an 8” x 10” team photo of the 1980 Expos, 17 Expos pay stubs from 1980 and more. The second scrapbook contains a two-page letter regarding Gauvreau’s induction to the Acadia Sports Hall of Fame, we have an opening game ticket for the Expos, along with three other examples from 1969 and a pair from 1970 that have been “tipped in”, and could be removed if desired. There are also tickets from 1970, including a pair from opening day that have been glued in, along with 8 from 1971, 5 from 1972, 4 from 1973 and a pair from 1974. Next we have a dedicated signed cut from HOF Umpire Jocko Conlon, 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee all-star cards from Howe, Beliveau and Plante, 8 Canadiens ticket stubs from 1971-72 (glued in), postcards of Serge Savard and JC Tremblay and more. We also have a small book of business cards, with five examples from the Expos including the Head Trainer Ron McCain and Gene Kirby, the club’s administrative assistant. Three business cards of Gauvreau’s are also included, with an example framed. The opening game ticket stubs from 1969 include the scrapbook example along with one in a lucite case, with both having minor condition issues with light creasing along with a pinhole in one example. The remaining ticket stubs all vary regarding condition, with a number exhibiting creasing along with corner wear.
