Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Some highly desirable vintage Montreal Expos items are available in this lot, all originating from the personal collection of assistant trainer Paul Gauvreau, who spent 1980 with the club. We have a game jersey with “Set 1 1980” tagging, three pairs of Expos pants, two in solid blue, one in red, along with a pair of shorts. Next, we have three Expos caps including an example that has been decorated with additional text including handwritten names, done as a souvenir for Gauvreau. There’s also a pair of cleats with Gauvreau’s initials handwritten on each, along with a pair of uniform belts, also most likely used by Gauvreau.
The complete breakdown for the offered items is as follows. 1) Montreal Expos game jersey. A Rawlings model with tagging on the inside flap including “Set 1 1980”, an Expos emblem in tackle twill sits over the left breast, with no number on verso. With no visible wear, the jersey remains in beautiful condition. 2-4) Expos pants (3). All three pairs of pants feature matching Rawlings size 34 tagging along the waistband, with “Gauv” handwritten in each blue pair, with no damage present. 5-7) Expos caps (3). Three Pro Model New Era caps all in different sizes, one cap remains in high grade, while one exhibits moderate wear/discolouration to the bill. The third cap is the decorated example previously mentioned, and it also exhibits wear to the bill and top. 8) Expos shorts. Rawlings models in size 34, a “Gauvreau” patch sits along the waistband, along with a size and date swatch of “34 34 80”. 9) Expos cleats. Nike models with “PG” handwritten along the back of each, both have intact lacing, with nice use exhibited. 10&11) Expos uniform belt (2). Slightly different in style, each belt is solid blue, with the buckles intact. Both show use, with “36” handwritten on one.
