A nice collection of signed Montreal Expos items totaling 11 are here for your collecting pleasure - all originating from circa-1980, including signed balls, pennants, a bat, and a few other items. The bat is a team-issued John Tamargo signature model, and it’s been signed by approx. 43 including Carter, Dawson, Rogers, Raines and others, while a pair of identical Expos pennants have been signed by 27 and 26 respectively, with Carter, Rogers, Hutton and Raines present on both pennants, along with others. We have 5 signed balls, with a team-signed example along with four others that have been multi-signed. Lastly, we have a small 4” x 6” photo of Carter signed, a Carter signed golf program and a small card signed by Bill Atkinson.
The breakdown for the offered Expos signed items are as follows. 1) Team-signed bat. A 34 ½” John Tamargo H&B Louisville signature model, the bat features perfect center brand stampings and a gorgeous blonde surface. Roughly 43 have signed in marker, with the signer’s number added in gold foil. Along the previously mentioned players we have Paul Gauvreau, Felipe Alou, Ozzie Virgil, Dick Williams, Warren Cromartie, Chris Speier, Ron LeFlore, Tony Barnazard, Ken Macha, Brad Mills, John Tamargo, Bobby Ramos, Tim Wallach, Jerry Manuel, Scott Sanderson, Bill Gullickson, David Palmer, Charlie Lea, Woody Fryman and others. 2) Team-signed ball. A Rawlings Official NL example with 33 signatures present including Woodie Fryman, Gary Carter, Felipe Alou, Dick Williams, Tim Wallach, Chris Speier, Tim Raines Charlie Lea, Bill Gullickson, Steve Rogers and others. A number of the signatures appear as grey in colour, and display well, while the ball remains in very good condition with a few areas of toning and light discolouration. 3&4) Team-signed pennants. Both identical 30” Expos examples, 27 have signed one while 26 grace the second example, with most of the same signers on both. Including are Charlie Lea, Andre Dawson, Bill Gullickson, Larry Parrish, Dave Palmer, Ellis Valentine, Chris Speier and others. Both exhibit discolouration along with creases, especially near the tips. 5) Gary Carter, Fergie Jenkins and Bills Atkins signed baseball. A Rawlings Official AL Brown ball, each has signed in black marker, with the signatures displaying well. 6) Gene Mauch and Earl Williams signed baseball. A Rawlings Official NL example, both signatures have been scripted in pen, with heavy toning/discoloration to the ball. 7) Gene Mauch, Duke Snider, Jim Fanning and John McHale signed baseball. Two others have also signed, with the ball mounted to a small trophy base with a “Bill Gauvreau” name plaque added. The signatures exhibit fading, while the ball is heavily discoloured. 8) Steve Renko, Claude Raymond, Ron Brand signed baseball. Two others have also signed, with the ball mounted to a small trophy base with a “Paul Gauvreau” name plaque added. The signatures display well, while the ball is heavily discoloured. 9) Gary Carter signed photo. An image of the ever-smiling Carter has been signed along the right hand side in marker, and the signature is flawless. 10) Gary Carter signed golf program. At roughly 4 ½” x 8 ¾”, the program originates from the Fifth Annual Golf Classic at St. Marys in 2001, with Gary adding a personalization to recipient Paul Gauvreau. 11) Bill Atkinson signed card. A small photo on card stock at 2 ½” x 3 ½”, Atkinson has signed in marker, and the signature is flawless. We should note that all of the offered items originate from the personal collection of Paul Gauvreau, who was an assistant trainer with the Expos in 1980. LOAs will accompany both pennants, along with each of the signed baseballs, except the Steve Renko-Claude Raymond-Ron Brand example.
