Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
While smaller than the full-length sabres given to season ticket holders of Buffalo’s inaugural NHL season, this 15 ¾” dagger features a gold coloured pommel and cross-guard, with a composite grip. Dual Sabres logos are etched along the blade, with “To Commemorate the Entry of the Buffalo Sabres into the NHL, 1970” along with a facsimile signature of coach Punch Imlach. Produced by Wilkinson of England, their logo is featured along with notation of their Royal appointment, just above the cross-guard. With just a few small issues regarding condition, the dagger displays beautifully.
A few small blemishes are present along the blade near the tip, with some minor scratches also present. There is also some wear to the finished details on the blade, along with some dirt in grooves along the cross-guard. A few grooves/notches are present on the composite handle near the pommel, with some additional minor scratches to the pommel itself. Mentioned for the strictest of accuracy, these imperfections do little to undermine the overall appearance of the dagger.
