Men’s ice hockey at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games witnessed the second consecutive gold medal for the Canadians, defeating Sweden in the finals. 12 nations participated for best in world status, including Russia, Finland, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the United States and the Czech Republic. This Team Slovenia alternate captain’s jersey was worn by Anze Kopitar in the Feb 15th contest against Slovakia, and it’s been photo-matched. A Nike logo along with sizing (62) sits screened-on the inside collar above an IIHF label, with an additional Nike swoosh heat-pressed onto the right breast. Featuring “Slovenia” across the chest along with dual-colour stars placed directly below, the solid blue sweater has been accented with double-twill reverse numbers, with the important Sochi 2014 crest on the bottom hem. An Olympic Team Slovenia crest and Slovak flag patch sit on the right and left sleeves beneath the numbers respectively, with a Nike inventory bar code heat-pressed onto the inside hem. Game-wear consists of just a few marks over the right sleeve. There is also a large slit/tear on the right shoulder near the numbers, along with some light staining to the first “1” on verso. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty image #469460139 from the aforementioned Feb 15th game has been matched to the big tear on the right shoulder. We should also note that Kopitar scored in the Feb 15th match against Slovakia. An LOA from the NHLPA will accompany.
