The follow-up to the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, the 2004 edition featured 8 teams in 2 pools, with the Canadians, Russians, Americans and Slovakia in the North American pool, while Finland, Sweden, Germany and the Czech Republic were featured in the European pool. Matches were played in 6 of the 8 competing nations. This Team Czech Republic jersey was worn in the tournament by forward Martin Straka. Size “54” tagging from Nike is present along the collar along with an IIHF label, with an additional IIHF crest along the back bottom hem. Styled with an attractive and partially embroidered Czech shield crest, the red v-neck sweater has been accented with twill numbers along with the back letters heat-pressed directly onto the nameplate. The 2004 World Cup of Hockey patch sits over the left breast above a small “21” crest worn to honour Czech legend Ivan Hlinka, while a Nike inventory bar code has been heat-pressed onto the inside hem. Nice game-use is exhibited on the garment, with a large stick mark on the lower front along with additional dark marks on the left sleeve. There are also a few board burns present on each sleeve. We should note that the Czech’s wore these red jerseys in a single game on Sept. 3rd vs Germany. A small blue spot on the "8" on the right sleeve is visible on Getty image #51259678 from Sept. 3rd, but not high resolution enough to call a definitive photo-match. We should also note that the outline of a captain's "C" on the breast is in the correct placement as to the actual captain's "C" showing on Getty image #53393416 from Sept. 3rd. An LOA from the NHLPA will accompany.
