The highest drafted Austrian player in NHL history, Thomas Vanek is currently with Minnesota after nine seasons in Buffalo and short stints in New York and Montreal. This Sabres jersey was worn by Vanek in his rookie season of 2005-06, and it’s been photo-matched. Size 56 tagging is affixed to the collar, with partially embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the bottom hem and back neckline respectively. Styled with the gorgeous “buffalo head” team logo, the jersey also sports matching “B” sabre patches over both shoulders. This jersey has been photo-matched to marks on the right sleeve, and to additional marks on the left breast. A MeiGray patch sits on the inside hem, and according to their population report, this is a “White Set 1” example.
Visible game-wear includes a few stick marks on the upper and lower front, with additional marks on each sleeve. There is also a pair of large board burns over each shoulder, with a small hole over the left elbow. Getty image #56054388 from Oct 29th 2005 has been matched to the two small black marks on the lower right sleeve, while Getty image #56267285 from Nov 23rd 2005 has been matched to the small black mark on the right breast, and to the two small black marks on the upper left breast.
