Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Baseball trailblazer Jackie Robinson’s autograph is featured in this framed display commemorating his groundbreaking year with the old Montreal Royals of the International League. Jackie led Montreal to the Little World Series title in 1946, the year before he broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie’s black fountain pen ink signature, which has been certified by PSA/DNA, is displayed on the blank face of a 5 1/4" x 3 1/4" postcard that is displayed within its PSA/DNA hard plastic case at the bottom of the frame. “Royals” script logo is embossed at the top of the black matte that surrounds the 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" photo of Robinson in his Royals uniform.
The back of the postcard, which is not seen, is addressed to a "George Kane" of New York and is postmarked "Jan 13 1954, New York, NY".
