Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
A colorful, inviting and remarkable 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee PSA 8 bonanza is what our consignor has patiently put together over the years, with the gentleman now ready to pass the stash along to another appreciative hobbyist. All but eight of the 250 encapsulated cards garnered NM-MT 8 status at PSA, including the rookie cards of Ken Dryden and Marcel Dionne, regular and all-star cards of Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull and Jacques Plante and special retirement/collector’s cards of fellow legends Gordie Howe and Jean Beliveau. Other NM-MT 8 highlights include second-year cards of Hall-of-Famers Clarke, Sittler, Perreault and Park, along with checklist #264. The Esposito brothers, the Mahovlich brothers, Mikita, Ratelle, Giacomin – the list goes on – they all look mighty fine. A lone NM-MT+ 8.5 representative is 38-Frank St. Marseille, with seven cards slabbed NM 7; 26-Unger, 43-McKenny, 120-H. Richard, 129-Cashman, 138-Conacher, 175-Leach and 238-Burns. Keys/notables among the 14 cards not present are the Guy Lafleur RC and the #111 checklist, as well as 54-Cheevers, 80-Keon, 131-Parent and 245-Orr Double, with the others being #s 31, 102, 196, 223, 234, 244, 248 and 252-Tremblay AS. A tempting years-in-the making jackpot, this assembly of a forever-popular issue offers numerous possibilities.
Also to mention is the (scratched) holder of the Ken Dryden rookie card.
