Guy Lafleur, the young man whose task it was to replace the legendary Jean Beliveau as the Montreal Canadiens' principal "torch-bearer" took some time to hit his stride, but once "Flower" blossomed, he became his era's most electrifying superstar. Not one but two of Guy's 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee rookie cards highlight this group, with the best at NM but off-centered and the other first appearing EX+ but lowered to VG+ due to a small light back crease. Light glue residue on the back drops an otherwise EX-MT '72-73 OPC second-year card, while EX-MT examples from '73-74 and '74-75 are present. Guy's off-centered '75-76 card, erroneously listing his position as "defense" is followed by a nice run of generally well-centered ('77-78 is an exception), crease-free examples which, for the most part, are NM or better. Swell memories of six straight 50-goal seasons and three NHL scoring titles are brought forth by this dandy group. Guy! Guy! Guy!
