Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
The legendary Eddie Shore, pictured on an oversized (5” x 7”) O-Pee-Chee card at the end of his Bruins' career, leads this intriguing lot, with card #100 in rather attractive VG+ condition with no unsightly flaws. Desirable 1936 “Champion” postcards picture Sweeney Schriner (G), Charlie Conacher (G) and King Clancy (P), while a complete/intact 13-card strip of miniature cards, originally folded and available in a vending machine capsule, (1951), has survived in impressive EX-MT condition. Hollett, F. Boucher, Aurie, Dye and Muzz Patrick are among those featured. Other 1939-40 OPC cards are G-VG and include #s 27-Mondou, 30-Wentworth, 55-Fowler, 81-McKenzie and 83-Watson, while a Crown Brand photo of the ’37-38 Montreal Maroons is on a tattered/torn mat. Individual Crown Brand photos pasted on makeshift backings total 12 and include Blake, Siebert and six Maroons. Tossed into the black and white stash are 32/50 lower grade circa-1910 “Canadian Historical Portraits” tobacco cards – interesting.
