Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Another in the tragic line of hockey players who lost their lives prematurely, Tim Horton played an amazing 24 NHL seasons including 18 with Toronto, and was still active at the time of his death. This stick was used by Horton during the Leafs 1966-67 Stanley Cup Championship season, and it’s been team signed. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro, “Horton” and “7” appear stamped on the shaft, with the original tape jobs on the blade and upper shaft/knob. 17 signatures have been placed along the back-side of the shaft including Hall of Famers Horton, Keon, Mahovlich, Kelly, Pronovost, Pulford, Armstrong and Allan Stanley. There is also a notation in marker on the upper shaft of “1966-67”. A COA will accompany this stick.
Other signers on this historic stick include Ellis, Stemkowski, Conacher, Hillman, Walton, Baun, Gamble and a pair of trainers. Most signatures present well, with a few exhibiting fading. The stick exhibits nice use, with wear to the bottom of the taped section of blade, along with dark marks along the shaft and around the heel section. There is also a previously taped crack midway up the shaft, with the tape removed at some point. We should also note that the entire stick including the taped areas, have been covered with a light layer of varnish/shellac.
