Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Absolutely stunning, this stick used by Kenny Reardon remains in almost the same condition as when originally handed to a young 10th Grade student by Dick Irvin in 1948. A Jimmy McNiece model, the stick has been team-signed by the 1948-49 Montreal Canadiens. A “Kenny Grant – Johnny Bennett” stamp sits on the upper shaft along with “17”, with a patent date for its two-piece construction between the striping sticker and heel. Retaining the original tape on the blade and shaft, the stick remains in gorgeous condition as was previously stated. 18 have signed the shaft in pencil, with just a few signatures appearing light. Included are deceased Hall of Famers Richard, Reardon, Lach, Harvey, Bouchard, Durnan and Dick Irvin.
Others who have signed this spectacular Kenny Reardon stick are Reay, Carveth, Mosdell, Harmon, Riopelle, Chamberlain, Fillion, Laycoe, Robertson, Locas and Ed Dorohoy. Regarding provenance, a letter will be included stating that this stick was originally gifted for merit to a 10th Grade student by Dick Irvin in 1948 at the High School of Montreal. Extremely well cared for, the stick exhibits just very light use, and is ready to be displayed in a prominent collection.
