Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
An integral component to the success of the 1972 Summit Series, in this lot we have three different displays, with a pair honouring host and vice-president of CTV Johnny Esaw along with the other men and women who worked hard at presenting the ’72 Series to Canadian television viewers. The first display is a silver-coloured plaque presented to Johnny Esaw by the CTV and CBC networks for his service in the series, next we have a vintage photo of the full network team, all in their ’72 blazers including Jacques Plante and Howie Meeker. Lastly we have a matted photo of Team Canada from the 1981 Canada Cup, signed by 26 including Gretzky, Bourque, Bowman, Gainey, Trottier, Eagleson and others.
The CTV/CBC award presented to Esaw has been framed to dimensions of 12 ¼” x 16 ¾”, while the photo of the network team is framed to dimensions of 11 ¼” x 14”. The 1981 Team Canada photo has a dedication to Johnny Esaw handwritten along the bottom of the photo from Alan Eagleson, and it's framed to dimensions of 16 1/4" x 20 1/4". All three displays remain in pleasing condition, with wear and marks to the frames present.
