Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Depicted here at age 21 and not long after he had won the NHL scoring championship, before helping the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Stanley Cup in the spring of 1932, is legendary left winger Harvey "Busher" Jackson. O'Keefe's Beverages issued a set of 20 coasters, (sometimes referred to as blotters), to commemorate the Leafs' championship season, with the artwork done by prominent Canadian cartoon artist Lou Skuce. This example displays much better than the Good 2 grade it received from PSA, with somewhat tattered edges on the reverse looking to be the contributing culprits. Just two other similar Busher Jackson examples have ever graded higher at PSA, with a NM 7 and a Good+ 2.5 showing up on the company's Population Report, along with four 2s and one "Authentic". One of the cartoons reveals "Harvey is the youngest player in the major league". Scarce pre-war collectible is coveted by serious collectors.
