Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
One of the most desirable and in-demand RCs of the post-war era is that depicting legendary goaltender Jacques Plante, with this high grade example sure to excite those who appreciate the finer aspects of our hobby. Awarded a mark of NM+ 7.5 by Beckett, card #50 here is the nicest ever examined by BVG graders, topping the 26 others slabbed by the firm. Comparatively, PSA figures reveal ten NM-MT 8s, five 8s with qualifiers and one at 7.5. A thing of beauty to hold and behold while contemplating the innovator's lengthy and illustrious career, the encapsulated treasure was pulled from a pack the season Jacques and the Canadiens began their historic run of five consecutive Stanley Cup titles, with Plante winning the Vezina Trophy each of those years. The curious write-up on the reverse references Plante's unorthodox style and concludes "He likes to wander all over the ice, giving the coach a headache." Your head will feel great when this prize is delivered.
