Yes, O-Pee-Chee cards from the 1970s and ‘80s star here, with a near set (258/264) of 1971-72s leading chronologically, but shy of the key Dryden and Lafleur RCs, 100-Orr and the two checklists. The Dionne rookie is G+, with most others in the VG to EX range and eight booklet inserts tossed-in. From ’72-73 are a lot of 154 different with stars but no numbers above 207 and condition looking to average in the VG-EX neighborhood. A ’73-74 ensemble features all “white” back examples and is two shy (team card, checklist) of completion with most stars EX-or-better but a light crease sending the Smith and Robinson RCs to VG+, while a single team card will complete an interesting rookie card-laden ’74-75 set. A group from ’77-78 requires 40 cards to finish, while complete sets are from ’78-79 (Bossy RC year), ’84-85 and ’86-87 to ’89-90. A Mario Lemieux rookie is all that’s missing in an ’85-86 near set. More details are on our website.
The ’74-75 cards feature some nice EX-MT, EX-MT+ and NM cards, with Cherry, McDonald, Bowman and Gainey RCs all making the grade and a light crease affecting the two Orrs and RCs of Potvin, Salming, Middleton and Davidson. Three checklists are unmarked with several of the team checklists partially marked. The group of ’77-78 cards (missing 40 to complete) averages EX, while a well-centered Mike Bossy RC is EX and anchors the ’78-79 set which features unmarked checklists and team checklists. The 1980s’ representatives, typically in nicer condition than the entries from the ‘70s and also all housed in binders, are highlighted by the rookie cards of Yzerman (VG), Lafontaine (NM), Gilmour (NM), Chelios (EX+), Neely (NM (OC)), MacInnis (NM-MT), Roy (EX-MT), Clark (NM-MT), Robitaille (NM (OC)), Oates (EX-MT), Hull (EX-MT), Shanahan (NM) and Sakic (NM-MT). Numerous options await the new owner of this years-in-the-making collection.
