Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This interesting lot will definitely appeal to vintage equipment collectors, with assorted items available including skates, gloves, pants, shin pads, a stick and a jersey. The jersey is a wool example made for a child, with Dominion Knit tagging in the collar, along with “Tyndall” across the front and a very small “9” on verso, both in felt. The stick is a one-piece example in solid but worn condition with “Harry Kennedy” stenciled on both sides. Both pairs of skates were made by CCM, with the older pair from circa-1910 or so. We also have gloves made by CCM and Reach, along with Syl Apps signature model shin pads from Sears. Lastly, we have a pair of red vintage hockey pants, with no discernible maker.
There are a number of small and large holes present on the jersey along with some light staining, with the right cuff showing slight deterioration. Both pairs of skates exhibit good use, with marks, abrasions and some rust to the blades. The Reach gloves are in nice solid condition, with heavy wear to the surface, while the offered CCM examples are from the mid-1960s and remain in excellent condition. The pants are in nice condition showing some use, while the Syl Apps shin pads remain in very good condition, also exhibiting use.
