Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Turning down two contract offers from MLB clubs while still in college, Al Newman would end up playing for Texas, Minnesota and Montreal. This Expos jacket was worn by the switch-hitter in the mid-1980s. Starter “Diamond Collection” tagging remains in the collar, with an additional Starter tag on the inside with “Newman” handwritten. A beautiful Expos crest sits over the left breast, with “Newman” also appearing on verso in dual-colour tackle twill, with the jacket sized as a medium. With no damage or obtrusive wear to mention, the button-up jacket remains in excellent condition.
