Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This interesting collection of antique hockey sticks numbers 6, with 5 of the offered examples one-piece construction. We have a pair of Clark’s, including a “school” model along with one marked “hand made”, with both having the maker Breslau’s logo stenciled onto the blades. There is a pair of generic models, with no discernible maker, along with a small child’s model marked “youths”. Lastly, we have an early two-piece stick with a black painted blade along with remnants of a paper label with “Superb” showing. Superb was a line of sticks marketed by Lovell. Ranging from 55” from handle-to-heel for the longest stick, to 35” for the youth model, this collection will be perfect for the lovers of vintage lumber.
All sticks show varying degrees of use, along with some exhibiting tape, marks, warping, cracks and breaks. The “school” model stick remains in pleasing condition just showing light use, while the generic example with the taped blade exhibits a heavy crack. There is also considerable wear along the bottom of the blades for the “Superb”, “youths” and “hand made” models.
