Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005, Russian international hockey superstar Valeri Kharlamov more than proved he could play at the same level as the NHL’s elite during the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet national team. Kharlamov was revered in North America when he played with the Central Red Army team against NHL opponents in the mid-1970s and his Jofa 9501 game-used stick dates from that era. “Kharlamov” is factory printed on the shaft. His original white tape jobs remain on the knob and blade. Most Kharlamov gamers we have seen are taped in black and in a different manner. Solid game use with nice wear to the mostly smooth bottom edge of the blade.
“L 5”, for the curve of the blade and the lie of the stick, are stamped above Kharlamov’s name on the shaft. Below that are “9501 Medium Pentaglas Model” on the front of the shaft. Most of the original red, white and blue tape wrap remains on the bottom of the shaft. “Jofa AB Malung Sweden” is stamped on the upper back of the shaft with “Penta Sports-Montreal Made in Canada” lower down.
