Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Erased from the record books due to his defection in 1974, European legend Vaclav Nedomansky would spend almost a decade playing in North America, split between the NHL and WHA. This Czechoslovakia National Team jersey was worn by Nedomansky in the early-1970s, prior to his defection. A “Clothing Services Prague” tag along with an illegible marker notation is affixed to the inner seam, with the tie-neck jersey constructed of a cotton blend with added striping bands. Styled with a silk-like team crest and dual-colour cloth/canvas drop-shadow numbers, the thick tie-string is still attached to the wool collar.
With no discernible use visible other than some spots of staining along with sweat stains on the arm pit and along the edges of the cuffs, the garment remains in very good condition. A prolific goal scorer, Nedomansky was able to average near, or just over a point-a-game for 5 of his 9 seasons played in North America.
