Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Despite regularly competing against hockey powerhouses Canada and Russia, Sweden has done extremely well in international play, with almost a dozen gold medals split between the Olympics and World Championships. These Team Sweden jerseys were worn in the late-2000s by Nicklas Grossmann and Anton Stralman in World Championship play. With IIHF tags and heat-pressed Nike sizing in the collar, there’s also an additional Nike logo beneath the right shoulder. Featuring tackle twill Tre Kronor team crests, IIHF patches sit on the back bottom hem including the 100th anniversary patch (Stralman), with matching “Svenska Spel” advertising patches on each sleeve.
Worn in the 2008 World Championship, the Stralman jersey exhibits nice use, with dark marks around the team crest and both elbows. This garment has also been photo-matched. Getty image #81048666 from May 10th 2008 has been matched to the small black mark on the top area of the left shoulder, and to a few marks on the lower left sleeve. The Grossmann Team Sweden jersey was worn in either the 2009 or 2011 World Championship, and it show’s evidence of washing on the fight strap.
