Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
It’s not often in the hobby that actual items seen in antique hockey photos make themselves available, but it’s even rarer to have both the photo and the item pictured together. That’s exactly the case here, with a 1932-33 Bond Silvertown Aces team photo, along with the Oshawa Daily Times Trophy won and pictured in the Aces photo. At 7 ¼” x 9 ¼”, the glossy print has been adhered to a labeled mat with total dimensions of 12” x 14”. The 14 ¼” trophy is mounted to a wooden base, with 3 shields affixed. With “Presented to Senior City Industrial Hockey League” engraved, the trophy is front and center in the Aces team photo. A seldom seen occurrence, these two items are absolutely perfect for display together.
The photo remains in very good condition, with some wear to the mat including two small edge tears. The trophy's previously mentioned shields all represent past winners, with the final adhered shield having “Won by Bond Bros Aces 1932-33”. The trophy shows tarnishing, along with wear to the base and along edges. Also included are two small vintage photos of the Bond Bros garage, along with an original invoice dated 1931.
