Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
On the eve of winning consecutive Stanley Cup championships – the first in Habs' franchise history – the Montreal Canadiens earned the O’Brien Trophy at the conclusion of the 1928-29 NHL season for finishing first in the Canadian Division. Led by the 27 points scored by team leader Howie Morenz, the Canadiens would lose in the semifinals to Eddie Shore and the Boston Bruins. We have a framed panoramic photo of the 1928-29 Montreal Canadiens. At 5” x 19” (visible), the glossy print depicts the full team lined up outside the Forum, including legendary HOFers Morenz, Joliat, Hainsworth, Gardiner and Sylvio Mantha. Matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 9 ½” x 23 ½”, the photographer Lucien Desjardins appears over the upper right, and we should note light wear visible to the print and considerable wear to the frame.
