Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

A pillar along the Montreal Canadiens' blueline for 16 1/2 seasons and a member of Montreal's all-time "Dream Team" who earned and commanded respect from both teammates and opponents, Larry Robinson contributed to six Stanley Cup championships and donned this white knit Habs home jersey during the 1986-87 season. Larry wore the captain's "C" for part of the year due to an injury to Bob Gainey, who appeared in 47 games. A half-detached Maska Ultrafil tag in the neck is joined by a "86 04" tag while a CCM patch is embroidered into the rear hem. The considerably frayed stitching around the Habs tri-color crest, especially outlining the "H", is what we have a definite photo-match for as well as a pair of loose threads on the top edge of the captain's "C". Other game wear includes a double-dime-sized team repair in the shape of an "8" on the front, in the blue and white striping, four smaller repairs on the right sleeve and another stitch job on the left sleeve where a few small holes/snags can be spotted. Good interior pilling in the fight strap region is also to mention. Worn by a player who was gifted at both ends of the ice and who hit double figures in goals scored on 12 occasions, breaking the 200-goal plateau in his Hall of Fame career, the jersey represents a formidable opportunity for Canadiens/Robinson/jersey collectors. A LOA will be included.
