Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Wool cardigans issued to members of sports teams were extremely popular throughout the early to mid-20th century. This beautiful cardigan sweater was originally obtained directly from HOF Bruins player and coach Milt Schmidt, with period photos showing the team's coaches wearing these cardigans on the bench and at practices. The heavy cream-coloured wool sweater is void of any tagging, and it’s styled with an attractive embroidered gold and black Bruins crest with “NHL”. Featuring striping accents again in Boston colours, the sweater remains in absolutely gorgeous condition with all buttons intact. Originally from the personal collection of Boston photographer Al Ruelle with an LOA from Classic Auctions.
Approx. 24 ½” from the top of the collar to the bottom of the back, the cardigan does have some excess white threading around the crest. There is also just the slightest discolouration to the fabric on the interior, most likely due to age, and this is mentioned strictly for complete accuracy.
