Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Leading the Montreal Canadiens to their first back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1930 and 1931, Cecil Hart would coach the Habs for nine seasons during the 1920s/30s, with his father David donating the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1923. Attributed to use by Hart – according to our consignor, we have an exceedingly rare and aesthetically pleasing 1937-38 Montreal Canadiens team cardigan wool sweater. With no labeling intact and measuring-out to roughly a modern size 42, a gorgeous layered felt Habs CH crest sits over the lower left front with “1937-38” appliqued, with blue and white striping accents over the collar, waist, pockets and cuffs. In beautiful condition with rich and deep colouration, there is a team repair over the right elbow, with just regular wear from age and use present.
