Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

A hobby favorite is O-Pee-Chee's 1971-72 card set, with this ensemble looking rather appealing while flipping through it and admiring the mostly crease-free images. Condition issues however affect the backs of the majority of cards. Some have their numbers highlighted in red, with four-to-six-digit numbers stamped on the backs of others, with yet others featuring numbers added in thick blue marker. In some cases, two or three of the major flaws are present, the result being a set that is technically low grade. Ken Dryden RC has it's number "45" colored-in in red, with "1227" stamped on the reverse but is otherwise EX, with the Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne rookies similar. The Bobby Orr regular card (#100) has three pieces of scotch tape affecting the front and "1000" stamped on the back, while checklist #111 has all of its boxes filled-in in pen, with checklist #264 unmarked but creased and colored/stamped on the back. Good-looking low grade cards is the best way to sum things up - heavily creased low graders don't look this nice.
