Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This vintage silver-plated tray was presented to hockey legend Jack Adams as a wedding anniversary gift to him and his wife from members of the 1950-51 Windsor Spitfires. The Ontario Hockey League junior team had HOFers Glenn Hall and Al Arbour on its roster that season among the Red Wings prospects in the pipeline to the Stanley Cup dynasty of the 1950s. “To Mr and Mrs Jack Adams, Happy Anniversary Wishes from The Players of the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club, Nov. 1st. 1950” is engraved in the middle of the 13” x 20” tray, which has two handles and ornate details. Surface scratches and marks show that it saw dutiful service in the Adams household. Comes with a letter of provenance.
“Wm Rogers, Hamilton, Ont, E P on Copper, WMMTS, 1047” is stamped on the reverse.
