Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
The 2004 season saw Jacques Villeneuve on the sidelines when the season began, as a contract dispute saw him replaced by Jenson Button at BAR. Jacques sat out almost the entire season until he was called to replace Jarno Trulli for the last three races with the Mild Seven Renault F1 team. At season’s end he announced that he would be returning to Formula One on a full time basis with the Sauber Petronas team in 2005.
Villeneuve’s return for 2005 started early and this Bell K1 helmet is photo-matched to a pre-season test session at the Catalonia race track just outside Barcelona, Spain on November 26, 2004. The helmet was painted by Bell Racing Europe and was tagged 2004-01. The complete race radio remains intact and the helmet has the HANS clips affixed to the side. The air vents have been covered and as with all Jacques’ helmets extra eye-port foam has been added. The helmet shows light wear as it saw limited action in testing as Bell introduced a new style of helmet that Jacques would wear in 2005, still this a great piece of memorabilia from Canada’s first and only Formula One World Champion.
This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
