This Bell K1 helmet, tagged “2002-14” and painted by Bell Racing Europe was used by Jacques during the 2002 United States Grand Prix weekend in Indianapolis where Jacques qualified 7th and finished 6th, his second-best finish of the season. The helmet was then used again during the season’s final Grand Prix weekend, the Japanese GP held at the Suzuka Circuit where Villeneuve started the race in 9th but failed to finish as he lost a motor on lap 27. The helmet was then converted to a 2003 spec with the addition of a Lucky Strike sticker on the chin and was affixed with a 2003 season visor, complete with three extra tear-offs with the top one signed by Villeneuve. The helmet is painted in Jacques traditional colors and Bell trackside staff has also added a decal of the American flag as well as the Japanese flag to signify which events the helmet was used at. A large decal has been placed on the back of the helmet to reduce friction and make it easier to turn your head against the cockpit padding. As per all of Jacques’ helmets the vents have been taped-off, extra eye-port foam has been added and the drink tube has been drilled out (now covered) and the full race radio remains intact. The helmet shows very nice wear inside and out and Jacques has added some tape to the upper eye port which extends out onto the forehead of the helmet. As he wore the helmet on track dirt and grime built up on the leading edge of the tape. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 2002-14” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
