This incredibly rare Bell Racestar HP1 helmet saw use by Jacques Villeneuve during his 3-race stint for the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team in 2004. Villeneuve replaced Jarno Trulli for the last three races of the season at Renault where he posted and 11th and two 10th place finishes.
The helmet was painted by Bell Racing Europe in Jacques’ traditional style and tagged “HP1 - 2004/2” with the flags of Japan and Brazil added to back of the helmet by Bell staff to signify where the helmet was worn. As per all of Jacques’ helmets extra eye port foam has been added and the drink tube was drilled out. Typically Jacques would also tape over all the vents but this being a new style of helmet, Villeneuve had left the vents open. The helmet shows tremendous wear with numerous chips in the paint and extra heli-tape has been added to the sides and back of the helmet to prevent it being damaged. The race radio has been removed. Jacques has applied his signature to the visor which is somewhat hard to see on the tinted visor and it is unknown if the visor on the helmet was actually used with the helmet or changed later on.
This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
