Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Originating as the Sherbrooke Castors in 1969 and playing in the Q, the club won the President’s Cup and advanced to the Memorial Cup in three different seasons before relocating to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to become the St. Jean Castors in 1982. This Castors jersey was worn by Tom Gibbons during the 1984-85 QMJHL season. Similar in style and colours to the Edmonton Oilers uniforms, no tagging remains, with the vintage garment measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Styled with a tackle twill team crest with embroidered detailing, “12” appears over the sleeves and verso, with “Gibbons” across the upper reverse in white heat-pressed vinyl. There is also a piece of period tape added to the inside collar with the year along with Gibbons name and stats from the 1984-85 season handwritten. Heavy use is apparent, with considerable wear, marks, scrapes and scuffs to the material throughout, with numerous small holes and pilling also visible. There are also heavy team repairs over the sleeves.
